Why do I pay for a service call, isn't it covered in my agreement?

Most alarm companies sign you up for monitoring contracts. These contracts are just that, you are paying for the monitoring of your alarm, and calling your call list and dispatching the necessary authorities.  Service contracts are offered by most companies but they are different contracts. Much like your local plumber or electrician, if there is a problem and you request service it is billed on a T&M or time and materials basis. This means you are paying to dispatch a service man, and have him or her fix the problem. If any parts (or materials) are necessary then you will have to incur additional charges.
